Salmon River Solitude 16 X 20 Oil

Oh the Salmon River! Below the end of the road about 5 miles, Horse Creek enters the river, depositing a large gravel bar and slowing the river just enough to offer a quiet reflective view of a wonderously busy river, carving its way across Idaho's midsection. The "River of No Return"- for me is the river of "no letting go", this river has hold upon me like no other, sculpting me spiritually and physically. this scene is one of springtime, towards sundown; last winter's ice still lies on the north facing sand bars, and its frozen form matches the seasons delicate balance of light and darkness, warmth and chill: released as slowly as it was formed. This 16 X 20 oil painting portrays a moment of calm as evening descends into the canyon, contrasting still water on a restless river, a passing of sunlight from direct to diffused and day giving way to dusk
